Furniture Care Basics
1. Daily Use Awareness
Furniture is designed for regular use, but mindful handling helps maintain its appearance and structure over time. Avoid sudden impacts, excessive force, or use beyond the intended purpose to reduce unnecessary wear.
2. Placement and Environment
Position furniture on level surfaces and keep it away from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, heat sources, or excessive humidity. Stable environmental conditions help prevent warping, fading, or material stress.
3. Routine Cleaning
Regular cleaning supports both hygiene and appearance. Recommended practices include:
- Use a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth for dust removal
- Avoid abrasive tools, strong chemicals, or alcohol-based cleaners
- Clean spills promptly to reduce staining or surface damage
4. Upholstered Surfaces
Fabric and padded surfaces should be vacuumed gently using a soft brush attachment. In case of spills, blot lightly with a clean cloth rather than rubbing. Allow the area to air dry naturally.
5. Wooden and Wood-Based Materials
Wooden surfaces benefit from minimal moisture exposure. Protective pads under objects can help prevent scratches and pressure marks. Natural variations in grain or colour over time are normal characteristics of wood.
6. Metal and Structural Parts
Metal components should be kept clean and dry. If exposed to moisture, wipe promptly to reduce the risk of corrosion. Periodic checks of visible fittings help ensure continued stability.
7. Moving and Rearranging
When relocating furniture, lift rather than drag to avoid stress on joints and flooring. Disassemble parts where possible and follow assembly guidance when reassembling.
8. Long-Term Care
If furniture will not be used for an extended period, store it in a dry, ventilated space. Use breathable covers to protect surfaces while allowing airflow.
